Tēna koutou My name's Lisa Perniskie and I come from Ōtepoti in the southern island of Aotearoa. I've been working with somatic therapies for about six years now and have completed training with Dr. Paris Williams training in Mindful-Somatic Approaches to Trauma Therapy, the Trauma Processing and Advanced Mindful- Somatic Trauma training: Working with Parts.
I come from a background in peer support and draw on ¢my 32 years of lived experience to deeply inform the ways that I work with people. I believe that healing from trauma begins with building a safe and trusting relationship with every person I work alongside. Making sure people are well resourced before exploring any aspects of their trauma.
Havening as the name suggests is about creating a sense of safety – a safe haven. In my experience it gives a person something to put in their kite, a self healing tool, to take away from sessions. My interest in Havening began when a friend of mine invited me to do a havening session as part of their case studies.
The experience inspired me to become a Havening practitioner. I value how gentle and accessible this psychosensory approach is and appreciate it creates a space, where people can release trauma responses and heal.
Alongside my therapeutic work, I’m also an artist, and a part-time art facilitator, I’m passionate about creativity and strongly believe in the power of art making and the therapeutic value of how it supports healing, connection and self expression.
I provide sessions in person or via zoom or signal.
